Supergrass – Caught By the Fuzz

”Caught by the fuzz
Well I was, still on a buzz
In the back of the van
With my head in my hands
Just like a bad dream
I was only fifteen

If only my brother could be here now
He’d get me out he’d sort me out alright
I knew I should have stayed at home tonight

Locked in the cell, feeling unwell
I talked to a man,
He said it’s better to tell
Who sold you the blow,
Well it was no one I know

If only you’d tell us we’d let you go
We’ll make it up for you my son,
So tell us what you know,
We’ll make you wish you’d stayed at home tonight

Here comes my mum, well she,
She knows what I’ve done
Just tell them the true,
You know where he’s from,
You’ve blackened our name,
Well you, you should be ashamed

If only your father could see you now,
He’d breakdown and he’d throw you out for sure,
I never should have let you out tonight”

Don Huonot – Kupla

Sanat:

hunajaa suoniimme ruiskuttaa
omantunnon äänet vaimentaa
pelon laimentaa, unta paimentaa

hunajaa suoniimme ruiskuttaa
omantunnon äänet vaimentaa
pelon laimentaa, unta paimentaa
nuo juonikkaat aineet taas
meitä kuplan sisällä kuljettaa
mielensä mukaan lennättää
meidät yhdistää ja toisistamme erottaa

Elliott Smith – Needle in the Hay

”Your hand on his arm
The hay stack charm around your neck
Strung out and thin
Calling some friend trying to cash some check

He’s acting dumb
That’s what you’ve come to expect
Needle in the hay
Needle in the hay

Needle in the hay
Needle in the hay
He’s wearing yr clothes
Head down to toes a reaction to you

You say you know what he did
But you idiot kid
You don’t have a clue
Sometimes they just get caught in the eye

You’re pulling him through
Needle in the hay
Needle in the hay
Needle in the hay

Needle in the hay
Now on the bus
Nearly touching this dirty retreat
Falling out 6th and Powell a dead sweat in my teeth

Gonna walk walk walk
Four more blocks plus one in my break
Down downstairs to the man
He’s gonna make it all ok

I can’t beat myself
I can’t beat myself
And I don’t want to talk
I’m taking the cure so I can be quiet

Whenever I want
So leave me alone
You ought to be proud that I’m getting good marks
Needle in the hay

Needle in the hay
Needle in the hay
Needle in the hay”

Mad Season – Wake Up

Hoidosta päästyään he perustivat sivuprojektin Screaming Treesin rumpalin. Barrett Martinin kanssa. McCready toi uuteen projektiin laulajaksi Alice in Chainsin Layne Staleyn sillä sivuajatuksella, että kuivilla olevat muusikot voisivat jeesiä pahasti heroiinikoukussa ollutta laulajaa. Waku Up -biisi kuvaa Staleyn tilannetta…

”Wake up young man, it’s time to wake up
Your love affair has got to go
For 10 long years, for 10 long years
The leaves to rake up

Slow suicide’s no way to go, oh
Blue, clouded grey
You’re not a crack up
Dizzy and weakened by the haze

Moving onward
So an infection not a phase
Yeah, oh
The cracks and lines from where you gave up

They make an easy man to read, oh
For all the times you let them bleed you
For little peace from god you plead, and beg
For little peace from god you plead

Ah, yeah, ah, yeah, ah, yeah
Wake up young man, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
Oh, yeah

Wake up young man, it’s time to wake up
Your love affair has got to go
For 10 long years, yeah
For 10 long years, the leaves to rake up

Slow suicide’s no way to go, oh
Slow suicide’s no way to go
Wake up, wake up, wake up”

Van Halen – Amsterdam

Biisi löytyy viimeiseltä Sammy Hagarin aikakauden Van Halenin levyltä Balance. Biisi kertoo turistin silmin Amsterdamista…

”Light ’em up!

Yeah!

Lookin’ good through the window
Shinin’ red and blue light, yeah
A little thick in the bottom
But still lookin’ alright, yeah

Got a pocket full o’ money
Got me a long night ahead
Quick stop by the Bulldog
Score me some Panama Red, yeah

Oh, wham bam, oh Amsterdam (Yeah yeah yeah)
Stone you like nothin’ else can (Yeah yeah yeah)
Woo! Hot damn, roll an Amsterdam (Yeah yeah yeah)
She can’t then nothin’ else can

Uh! Caught a plane outta Moscow
Spent one cold night in Berlin, yeah
It’s a long hard way but I’m a-comin’
Back again, yeah

Oh, wham bam, oh Amsterdam (Yeah yeah yeah)
Stone you like nothin’ else can (Yeah yeah yeah)
Yeah, come on up, roll an Amsterdam (Yeah yeah yeah)
If she can’t then no one else can

Oh, wham bam, oh Amsterdam (Yeah yeah yeah)
Will stone you like nothin’ else can (Yeah yeah yeah)
Yeah, hot damn, roll an Amsterdam (Yeah yeah yeah)
If she can’t then no one else can (Yeah yeah yeah)
Woo! Wham bam, oh Amsterdam (Yeah yeah yeah)
Don’t have to worry ’bout the man (Yeah yeah yeah)
Woo! Hot damn, uh, burn an Amsterdam, yeah (Yeah yeah yeah)
Stone me like nothin’ else can (Yeah yeah yeah)”

Bruce Springsteen – Sinaloa Cowboys

Hieno tarina kahdesta kaveruksesta, jotka pestautuvat duuniin keittelemään metamfetamiinia. ”Tehdas” posahtaaja toinen kavereista kuolee.

”Word was out some men in from Sinaloa were looking for some hands
Well, deep in Fresno county there was a deserted chicken ranch
And there in a small tin shack on the edge of a ravine
Miguel and Louis stood cooking methamphetamine

You could spend a year in the orchards
Or make half as much in one ten hour shift
Working for the men from Sinaloa
But if you slipped the hydriodic acid
Could burn right through your skin
They’d leave you spittin’ up blood in the desert
If you breathed those fumes in

It was early one winter evening as Miguel stood watch outside
When the shack exploded, lighting up the valley night
Miguel carried Louis’ body over his shoulder down a swale
To the creekside and there in the tall grass, Louis Rosales died
Miguel lifted Louis’ body into his truck and then he drove
To where the morning sunlight fell on a eucalyptus grove
There in the dirt he dug up ten-thousand dollars. all that they’d saved
Kissed his brothers lips and placed him in his grave”

Faith No More – King for a Day

”Sniff the glass and let it roll around on your tongue
Let me introduce you to someone before the party is done
Someone to look to in need or in want or in war
If you give him everything, he may give you even more”
